Tchalê Figueira was born in the city of Mindelo, on the island of São Vicente, in 1953. At the age of 17, for national political reasons, he decided to leave Cape Verde, heading for Rotterdam. However, he spent little time in this city, traveling to several countries in Europe, Asia and the Americas. In 1974, he moved to Basel (Switzerland), where he attended the school of fine arts, defining the Swiss territory as the base of his artistic evolution.

He returned to Cape Verde in 1985 and resides between the City of Praia, where he has a studio, and the city of Mindelo, where he opened the “Ponta D’Praia” gallery in December 2014.

A talented and versatile artist, Tchalê Figueira has a vast pictorial collection, recognized in several countries, as a result of the various exhibitions held throughout his artistic career.
